Women of the ELCA
WELCA (aka Women of the ELCA) is a very active group women from our congregation. Although, all women of the ELCA are considered WELCA members, a number of women donate hours of their time weekly/monthly to do work for the church and to serve those in our community. Many of the projects we do include the following:
- Bible study
- Prayer chain
- Nursery schedules, maintenance, and care
- Baptismal banners
- Meals on Wheels (coordination and delivery of meals to shut-ins)
- Lutheran World Relief (quilts and various kits)
- Apple Festival (pie making, donate cookies, work at event)
- Lutheran Special Education Ministries (collection of canned-good labels)
- Bethel Institution for the Disabled (collection of cancelled postage stamps)
- Monthly Book Club
- New Member Receptions
- Reception and gifts for confirmands and high school graduates
- Gift Bibles for 3rd graders and gifts toward Bible Camp for GSLC youth
- Thankoffering
- Spring Fellowship Event/Retreat
- Christmas Brunch
“When you make and send a Quilt, you are not only comforting someone you have never met, but providing an object that is useful in ways you probably never imagined.”
